ADVANTAGE
RENT-A-CAR AND STAR SHUTTLE AND CHARTER ARE COMMITTED TO IMPROVE
EMPLOYEES HEALTH THROUGH ANNUAL CAMPAIGN.
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (February 8, 2006). Advantage Rent A Car and Star
Shuttle and Charter is taking the health of its’ employees very
seriously. In January, they launched “Take 5,000 Steps for Your Health”,
a company-wide initiative designed to encourage employees to walk 5,000
steps (2 ˝ miles) every day. To measure their distance, each employee
has been provided a pedometer along with tracking charts and a
step-by-step plan with tips on how to increase their distance sensibly.
The “Road to Better Health”, a year long campaign aimed to get employees
and their families to take control of their health – was first
introduced in June, 2005. Fitness programs to include health club
memberships, weight management plans and smoking cessation therapies are
just a few of the tools Advantage and Star offered its’ employees during
this initiative.
“Taking a stance on the importance of our health is the responsibility
of every person,” says Advantage C.E.O. James P. Walker. “In order to
keep health-care costs manageable for employees, we are providing the
tools and financial assistance necessary to make healthy lifestyle
choices.”
Prizes and awards await the employees who achieve the 5,000 step goal.
Additionally, the companies identified company-wide weight loss and
smoking cessation goals at the onset of the campaign that if reached,
will mean a financial benefit for all health-care plan participants.
Employees may also go to the specially designed web page to record their
activities as well as find healthy lifestyle tips and featured stories
of fellow-employees.
